Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA)
The Money Managers Limited is a Principal Member of the Financial
Planning Association of Australia which is the peak professional
organisation for the financial planning industry in Australia. With
more than 12,000 members through a network of 31 chapters across
Australia and a state office in each capital city, the FPA is the
only organisation which represents qualified financial planners
in Australia. FPA members manage the financial affairs of over 3.7
million Australians with an investment value of $118 billion and
active annual investments of $36 billion.
The FPA represents the views of the industry to key decision makers
including government and the media. Established in 1992, the FPA
promotes improved quality of financial services for consumers, and
high standards of ethical and professional behaviour among its members.
The FPA's membership consists of companies and individuals that
practice within or support the financial planning profession. The
increase in size and stature of the FPA in recent years reflects
the rapid growth of the international financial planning profession.
In addition to those who have trained and practised within the financial
planning industry, many FPA members are specialist professionals
such as accountants and stockbrokers.
These members are now gaining qualifications as financial planners,
and are re-orienting their businesses to meet the growing market
need for broadly based financial planning.
Code of Ethics and Professional Code of Conduct
The Money Managers financial planners adhere to the FPA standards
of professional conduct and code of ethic. The reliance of the public
and the business community on sound financial planning and advice
imposes on financial planning professionals and obligation to maintain
high standards of technical competence, fair dealing and integrity.
Professional Standards reflect the commitment of Members of the
Financial Planning Association (FPA) to meet a high standard of
professional conduct.
The Professional Standards of the FPA comprise the following: Professional
Standards set standards of conduct for Members and are enforceable.
They may also be recognised by external bodies (such as regulators
or the courts) as relevant standards for the providing of financial
planning advice. Professional Standards are enforced by the FPA.
The Code of Ethics are general standards of a mandatory and enforceable
nature. Each general standard will apply to all classifications
of membership, unless otherwise stated.
Financial Industry Complaints Service Ltd (FICS)
The Money Managers is a member of the Financial Industry Complaints
Service. FICS provides support for investors that wish to formally
issue a complaint regarding a product, service or advice received
from a member.
FICS explores the nature of complaints with the investor initially
prior to advising as to whether it is able to deal with the matter.
If FICS can assist, the investor is sent a complaint form to complete
and lodge officially. FICS offers a three-stage process for resolution
of complaints and an effective alternative to litigation at no cost
to the consumer. A brochure outlining the services provided is available
upon request by contacting FICS directly by phone.
